Carlsbad Cottage underwent a remarkable transformation under the creative direction of Ginger Rabe Designs. The project encompassed a comprehensive redesign, incorporating various custom elements and meticulous attention to detail from designing, space planning to implementation.

• Living Room:

  • Custom cabinets were designed and crafted with intricate detailing, including wood selection, grain orientation, and overall design. These cabinets belonged to the GR Studio Cabinet Line.

  • A unique curved niche was introduced, featuring floating shelves, cabinets, custom lighting, and captivating tilework.

  • A handpicked wood beam was integrated to infuse character into the room.

  • Custom lighting, tile, and woodworking contributed to the enhanced ambiance of the living room.

• Kitchen:

  • The kitchen received special attention, with a custom plastered hood adorned with a carefully selected wood beam that added coastal charm to the space.

  • Marble countertops, fixtures, and hardware were chosen to harmonize with the overall design concept.

  • The combination of materials and designs tied the kitchen's aesthetic together, blending the coastal-inspired feel with modern glamour.

• Bathroom:

  • The bathroom was transformed into a standout feature of the cottage.

  • A custom curved floating mirror with backlighting was designed and created, showcasing unique wallpaper.

  • Shower tile design catered to the client's love for ceramics and featured flowing patterns leading towards brass fixtures.

  • A central focal point was the custom vanity, meticulously crafted with hand-laid wood and an attention-grabbing design.

  • From removing windows, adding french and dutch doors, to adding a new closet with a sliding custom door. The wallpaper was the inspiation of the space with texture grass cloh and custom painting. The furniture and textures, as well as styling in the space was a great touch to finish off the design.

• Office and Music Room:

  • The office was adorned with rich grass cloth, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

  • A custom-made floating desk with custom corbels and Quartzite countertop was installed, along with reading space and floating shelves.

  • The addition of custom windows and alder window trim enhanced the aesthetic of the room.

  • The design allowed for versatile use as both an office and a music room.

• Bedroom:

  • The bedroom aimed to evoke feelings of joy and excitement upon waking up.

  • A curved floating side table seamlessly connected to a custom linen cabinet.

  • GR Studio's built-in dresser and floating shelves incorporated strategic lighting, illuminating the space effectively.

  • The bedroom was redesigned to promote relaxation and rest, featuring new windows, doors, closet, and textured grass cloth wallpaper.

• Outdoors

  • Incorporated both French doors and Dutch doors, aiming to enhance the indoor-outdoor connection. The addition of custom decks and stairs from the bedroom to the laundry space and backyard suggests a functional and aesthetic upgrade to the outdoor spaces.

  • The introduction of a custom brick step from the main bedroom french doors leads you to the outside seating area and shower that brings a rustic and coastal charming touch to the space. This not only improves accessibility but also creates a cozy and inviting atmosphere.

  • Ginger's attention to detail is evident through the custom-designed copper light-up address signs. These signs not only serve a practical purpose but also add a distinctive and stylish element to the home's exterior. Similarly, the custom black iron lights guiding the pathways around the home contribute to the overall ambiance while providing safety and visibility.

    By combining functional design elements, thoughtful aesthetics, and custom craftsmanship, it seems like the firm and Ginger have worked together to transform the outdoor areas into a unique and appealing extension of the home.
